Frank's Fifty - Day #3
Proposal #3 - Frank’s Fifty Manchester – Conservative congressional candidate Frank Guinta (NH-1) released his third proposed spending cut as part of
Frank’s Fifty, his promise to First Congressional District voters to offer a spending cut proposal each day until the Republican Primary. Guinta believes that the responsible way to balance the budget is to cut spending while keeping taxes low; moves that will erase the deficit and stimulate our economy. Talking about today’s proposal, Guinta said the following: “Federal employees have thus far been exempt from the pressures of the recession. Although many federal workers provide important public service, it is not right that they continue to receive annual pay increases that add to the total deficit while their private sector counterparts have had to do without. I think we need to freeze federal employee salaries and take a look at how we compensate federal workers going forward.”
Proposed Cut #3: I propose a freeze of federal employee pay for one year. Such a freeze will not only save taxpayers $2 billion next year, but it will also hold government employees to the same standards as private sector employees and small businesses. This is a common sense approach to cutting the budget that might not be popular with government employees but is the right thing to do on behalf of the taxpayers of our country.
Day 3 Savings:
$2 billion ###
