July 8, 2010                                                                            Contact: 603-836-5620 Cell: 603-493-9692 sthomas@teamguinta.com    press@teamguinta.com                                                                                                   Guinta Calls President’s Decision to Sue Arizona Wrong: Washington’s Failure to Act an Abrogation of Federal Responsibility   Manchester – Responding to news of the Obama Administration’s decision to sue the State of Arizona over its immigration statute, S.B. 1070, conservative congressional candidate Frank Guinta issued the following statement: “The decision by the Justice Department to sue the State of Arizona in an effort to stop the State from protecting its citizens is quite simply an action not in the best interest of the American people and the people of Arizona. Unlike the US Congress which has failed to enforce existing immigration laws and has allowed the border to remain an open gateway to illegal immigration and the drug trade, the State Of Arizona has taken appropriate action and given its law enforcement agencies the powers to crackdown on illegal immigrants. It is disingenuous of the federal government to fail to enforce its own laws and then to try to prevent a state from remedying an existing problem. Instead of wasting the time, energy and budget of the Justice Department on this law suit, why doesn’t the Administration instead concentrate on fixing the problem of illegal immigration and securing our borders? I call upon my Congresswoman, Carol Shea-Porter, to oppose this decision by the Administration and to support the rights, sovereignty and safety of the people of Arizona.” ###
