A Not So Happy Anniversary!February 17, 2010A Not So Happy Anniversary! Where are the jobs? 1 Year and nearly $1 Trillion Later, NH CD-1 Residents are still waiting. Manchester NH- Today marks the one year anniversary since President Obama signed the Pelosi/Shea-Porter so-called "stimulus act" into law. We were promised at that time that the plan would "create or save" 2.5 million jobs immediately and 4.1 million jobs by 2010. It was also claimed that the stimulus plan would push the unemployment rate under 8% nationally. Unfortunately, what was promised and what we received are two vastly different things. This leaves Carol Shea-Porter quietly hoping that New Hampshire CD-1 residents have not noticed that the country has lost 2.74 million jobs since then and that New Hampshire's unemployment rolls have now risen to 51,000 strong. Bad as this news if for our citizens, it gets worse when we remember the enormous debt this program has burdened onto future generations. According to Frank Guinta, "One year and nearly 1-trillion dollars later in federal spending, and we are still waiting for the promised jobs from this alleged stimulus of the national economy. We don't need more stimulus spending nor do we need to add to the deficit. Instead we need to eliminate federal tax increases, decrease regulations and tear down the self-imposed obstacles that have been put in the way of real economic growth."

FRANK GUINTA COMMENTS ON CAROL SHEA-PORTER'S VOTE TO INCREASE THE DEBT LIMITFebruary 5, 2010FRANK GUINTA COMMENTS ON CAROL SHEA-PORTER'S VOTE TO INCREASE THE DEBT LIMIT Congress Votes To Increase Debt By Nearly 2 TRILLION Dollars Manchester, NH – Carol Shea-Porter joined Nancy Pelosi and the majority of members of Congress in support of increasing the national debt limit by nearly $2 trillion. The $1.9 trillion increase brings the total per person cost of the debt to more than $46,000 for every American. Frank Guinta released the following statement on the vote: “This is the citizens’ money Carol Shea-Porter and her colleagues are spending. The public has repeatedly pleaded with Congress to stop the spending that will require increased revenues to the government now and in the future. The people of New Hampshire and America are struggling enough and simply cannot afford this. Our Congresswoman has once again covered her ears to the wishes of the public and instead voted to increase the limit on the maxed out credit card the federal government holds. “Ironically, this comes on the heels of a visit of President Obama who touted the need for some fiscal restraint, while listing off massive amounts of spending increases. This kind of hypocrisy must stop. The people are watching and Carol Shea-Porter and her party cannot tell us they want to be more fiscally responsible while pulling stunts like this. “We need a top to bottom audit of every agency of government to find the cost reductions. No one will ever convince me there is no waste in government. Freeze it, find it, and cut it.” –Frank Guinta, Candidate, New Hampshire Congressional District 1.

CAROL SHEA-PORTER CALLS ON SENATE TO IGNORE THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE AND PUT A HEALTH CARE PUBLIC OPTION BACK INJanuary 29, 2010 CAROL SHEA-PORTER CALLS ON SENATE TO IGNORE THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE AND PUT A HEALTH CARE PUBLIC OPTION BACK IN Manchester, NH – The question of whether Carol Shea-Porter and our other ‘electeds’ in Washington have listened to the people over the past several months has apparently been answered. While the first indication may have been the State of the Union President Obama delivered which called for a Stimulus 2, tax hikes and massive increased spending, the second comes in the form of a letter. According to the democratic blog/website Blue Hampshire, Carol Shea-Porter and other members of the US House have sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to “urge you to consider including a public option.” “It is almost impossible that Carol Shea-Porter and her colleagues could still be so blind to the interests of the people. When our voices weren’t heard, the votes were in New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts, and yet they still ignore us. The public has soundly rejected the government takeover of health care. Carol Shea-Porter isn’t listening to us. She is more interested in what Nancy Pelosi thinks, than what the people of New Hampshire think,” said Frank Guinta, Candidate for 1st Congressional District. Last summer, facing a wall of opposition, Carol Shea-Porter refused to allow the public’s voices be heard barring any open access to a Town Hall to speak with the Congresswoman. Turning that blind eye, she soundly voted for the public option in the House. The Senate, while putting forth an equally terrible piece of tax and spend legislation, removed the public option acknowledging there simply wasn’t enough support for it. “To even pass the watered down version of the health care bill in the Senate, votes were sold for Louisiana purchases and cornhusker kick-backs. Now, facing known opposition among her own colleagues in the House, Carol Shea-Porter wants the Senate to simply accept the House version and rubber stamp it,” said Guinta. The President, who has received resounding support from Carol Shea-Porter, stated that those that oppose this public option have offered no other choices. However, several Congressmen have proposed many cost reducing solutions to health insurance and care that have not been acknowledged. “There are good solutions on the table and we must go back to the drawing board and start again with real reform. We need medical malpractice reform, small business pooling, and the right to buy insurance across state lines,” Guinta said. “We need to provide small businesses the same tax benefits big businesses receive and we need to maintain our current quality of care. This is what the public wants, is Carol listening?”

CAROL SHEA-PORTER ADMITS HEALTH CARE BILL BAD FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE FAMILIESJanuary 8, 2010 CAROL SHEA-PORTER ADMITS HEALTH CARE BILL BAD FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE FAMILIES Manchester, NH -- Following a conference call among 100 democratic house members, Carol Shea-Porter finally acknowledged the health care bill under consideration would be bad for New Hampshire families. Referencing a provision of the bill that would tax certain health insurance plans Shea-Porter said, “I have serious concerns about the excise tax proposal and the effect that it could have on middle class families in New Hampshire and across the country.” NY Times, January 7, 2010, House Democrats Push Back on Cadillac Tax, By David M. Herszenhorn “Now that Carol Shea-Porter has acknowledged what most of us already knew--this bill will hurt her constituents--I’d like to see her commit to voting against this legislation and any bill that will increase costs to New Hampshire families,” said 1st District Congressional Candidate Frank Guinta. “This entire process was begun under the premise of making health care more affordable and reducing the financial burden on struggling families. A bill that raises taxes, increases the cost of insurance for businesses and individuals, cuts Medicare by 500 billion, and costs a trillion dollars, certainly does not achieve the goal.” During the democrat-only call, Carol Shea-Porter reportedly did not support a provision in the current bill creating a 40% excise tax for more expensive health insurance plans. The tax on insurance companies would be passed on to businesses and individuals through increased premiums and/or reduced benefits. “This tax on insurance plans is a horrible idea that will increase the cost of health care for insurance purchasers across the board and I agree with the Congresswoman’s opposition. However, I’d like to see her new found concern for increasing the financial burden on families apply to the rest of her agenda, otherwise one would have to assume this is nothing more than an election year tactic to pretend she is not one of the biggest taxers in Washington,” Guinta said. Just in the past year, Shea-Porter has voted for: Cap and Trade, the largest tax increase in American history; a trillion dollar stimulus bill; spending that put the national debt at over 12 trillion; and to increase the amount of deficit spending Congress can approve. Shea-Porter stood by Nancy Pelosi’s side as she announced the House’s Health Care legislation that would increase taxes, the cost of insurance for businesses and families and cost another trillion. “Whether it is this generation or the next, the deficit we are accumulating will have to be paid back. Congress needs to rein in spending and come up with real solutions that provides tax relief to families and to businesses struggling in this economy,” said Guinta. Frank Guinta has proposed a plan for real health care reform that includes TORT reform, allowing the purchasing of insurance across state lines to increase competition, and letting small businesses pool together to get the same rates as bigger ones. His entire plan can be seen at www.teamguinta.com.

Frank Guinta On Today's Vote To End 'TARP'December 14, 2009FRANK GUINTA ON TODAY’S VOTE TO END ‘TARP’ Carol Shea-Porter voted down an effort to end federal bailout program and put leftover money toward deficit Manchester, NH – Carol Shea-Porter today voted down an effort by US House Republicans to end the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and use the leftover funds to reduce the deficit. This comes days after President Barack Obama requested the House agree to approve a left over $150 billion dollars from the TARP fund to go toward a Stimulus 2 spending program. The original TARP law requires any of the leftover or unused funds to be used for deficit reduction. The President’s proposed Stimulus 2, which Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter would have to vote on, is cloaked in a title to stimulate jobs—an effort Stimulus 1 was supposed to, yet failed, to achieve. Frank Guinta released the following statement on today’s vote: “Carol Shea-Porter voted for the disastrous original stimulus bill that failed to create jobs, failed to successfully stimulate the economy and has proved to be an organizational disaster. Today, she voted against sticking to an agreement in the original TARP federal bailout money for banks and Wall Street corporations. That agreement required any leftover taxpayer money be used to pay down our bloated deficit. Mind you this is on the heels of a discussion to raise our debt ceiling because Congress doesn’t have enough money to spend. This has got to stop. Clearly, Congress is addicted to spending. Carol Shea-Porter and her colleagues have maxed out the most platinum of credit cards and are asking for an increase in their credit card limit.”

US House Republican Whip Picks Frank Guinta for NH 1st Congressional DistrictDecember 4, 2009CONGRESSMAN ERIC CANTOR BACKS FRANK GUINTA FOR CONGRESS US House Republican Whip Picks Frank Guinta for NH 1st Congressional District Manchester, NH – The momentum for Frank Guinta’s bid for Congress representing New Hampshire’s 1st District continues to grow with today’s announcement of support from Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor. Congressman Cantor, who serves as Republican Whip in the US House, is a known proponent of common sense reforms without increased federal spending. He and Guinta share similar views on the topics of healthcare and job creation. “It will take support and assistance from many people for us to achieve our goal of winning this seat and bringing some common sense and accountability to back to Washington,” Guinta said. “I am thrilled to receive this early support from Congressman Cantor–a gentlemen who has continually fought for fiscal responsibility in Washington. We think very much alike and I look forward to working with him and his colleagues in Congress,” Guinta said. “”I am proud to support New Hampshire’s Frank Guinta in his effort to come to Congress. We need more Representatives who focus first on the people they represent. Mayor Frank Guinta has been a watchdog of the taxpayer’s money and I look forward to working with him to do the same here in Congress.” Congressman Eric Cantor, (R-VA) Republican Whip. This latest announcement of support comes on the heels of the release of the latest 50 additions to Frank’s County Co-Caption Team, which now stands at more than 250 members. “What we are seeing with this amazing early response from individuals looking to jump on our team, is support not just for our campaign, but for our ideals. We need to stop spending future generations into debt, we need to reform healthcare in a way that will actually reduce costs and help people, we need to create new jobs and reduce the over burden of taxes on small businesses. This support comes from frustration that things need to change and I will continue to talk about how we can do that throughout the next 11 months,” Guinta said.
