ROCHESTER — Former Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta came out on top in a survey of voters who attended a recent debate for GOP House candidates.
Activist Fred Leonard of Rochester released the results of the Rochester 912 Project survey, which was distributed after the debate.
Guinta had the support of 40 voters when it came to who they would support if the election was held today. Coming in second was Rich Ashooh, with 24 votes, followed by 19 votes for Sean Mahoney, 9 for Bob Bestani and 2 for Peter Bearse.
Guinta (38 votes) also led on the question of which candidate performed the best during the debate. Ashooh registered 28 votes while Mahoney scored 20, Bestani 11 and Bearse 2.
As for which candidates needs improvement, 55 voters said Bearse, 13 said Guinta, 11 said Mahoney, 7 said Bestani and 2 said Ashooh.
And as for which candidate surprised voters the most, Ashooh registered 39, Mahoney 22, Bearse and Bestani each hit 9 and Guinta came in with 2.
Guinta weighed in after the debate, saying "I am honored to have earned such a decisive victory. The 9-12 movement is energized, educated, and engaged in putting our country on the right track. ... "
